A Collection of Kindle covers [pt 2]

I waited through three quarters of a 12 hour delivery slot. I got bored.

I remember seeing this with Matt and snorting milk out of my nose with laughter at the Elvis Presley/gramophone scene in Lilo & Stitch. Must get around to watching that again. The inside of the cover is turquoise blue.

A red shirt kindle case with an 'expendable' velcro fastener.
So proud of myself was I about the joke I made up (what's the difference between a red shirt and Kirk's waistband?) that the first time I did this, I accidentally wrote expandable by mistake.
Come for the kindles, stay for the anecdotes.

Here's one I did last week. The lighting on this photo is weird. The blue writing at the bottom isn't really neon.

And wait! Don't go away! Here's a little something else I made at the weekend, in between creaming things. It is a plushie fish, see?

But turn it inside out and you got a little sushi plushie. Neat, huh? (Idea from here

Portal cakes

Portal cakes have been done ad nauseum, so apologies for adding. But Neil asked for some for his birthday and I am nothing if not obliging. Also, people usually only do the gateau 'cake is a lie' cake*, whereas I did all three, if that makes it any better?

*if you don't know what this means, don't worry, me neither really.

All of the cakes..

This here's the little portal man, doing his thing through lemon cake with lemon curd filling and cream cheese icing atop.

The cake is a lie meme is probably responsible for more black forest gateau eatage than the whole of the 70s. This one is made from cherry brandy, as there is apparently a city-wide shortage of kirsch.

Mistakes were made, lessons were learned. The companion cubes turned out all wrong,  the icing was a mess.  I feel shame that people will be seeing these. Still they probably still taste fine - red velvet with a cocoa buttercream covering and marshmallow fondant (again).

Firefly Cushion

Half of this cushion I am proud beyond words about. The other half sadly lets it down.

This weekend I have been totally immobile so I have been pootling away at this and a couple of other things. This is firstly, a present for someone who I am sure won't mind the imperfections and secondly, a trial run for something else.

Pedro likes the cushion.

Captain Mal Reynolds.

"Someone ever tries to kill you, you try and kill 'em right back"

Zoe and Wash.
I thought it would be best to put them together but I now see I was wrong. I've got Zoe sorted but she was too small to get the details right. Wash, well he just needs working on.

"Sir, I'd like you to take the helm, please. I need this man to tear all my clothes off."
"Once, in flight school, I was laconic".

The hero of Canton, Jayne Cobb

"Shiny. Let's be bad guys."

I wanted to make a chibi Kaylee - because she's so darned chibiable, but I see now that it looks very out of place when only she is cartoon-esque on the cushion. Lesson learned.

A collection of Kindle covers [pt 1]

These are terribly fun and therapeutic to make and I expect I'll be making more now and then in between big projects.

I suspect only about two people will know who this is. This is the diesel sweeties avatar of Wil Wheaton in his legendary clown jumper. Possibly a niche market for that one

And here is the inside, if that sort of thing interests you.

This chap is No-Face from Spirited Away. This was actually the first one I made when I was just getting the hang of felting  so it is hardly inspired.

I feel I should point out that I photographed the cases with the Kindles half out to demonstrate better. But they do fit fully in really. Just in case there was any confusion.

I probably could have resisted but chose not to.
