Christmas presents!

I have scheduled this post (hopefully) to go up on christmas day after the recipients have received them.

Remember the dragon neck warmers I made? Well, in the spirit of diversifying away from dragons, here is a sleepy fox neck warmer.

And while we are talking about not making dragons, here's a felted sculpture of our old alsation Beluga

And hey, here's Jasper.

I hope they like them!

Moustaches and snowflakes

Here's a random selection of little things I've made recently.

Moustache cookies on sticks for Movember!
(I forgot to take pictures of other people eating them so you'll have to make do with my ugly mug.)
I provided both left and right handed moustache cookies, you will notice.

Snowflakes for the Dev

Tie fighter
Boba

It may not shock you to learn that this one wasn't from a template, I made it myself. Supposed to be batman but his head looks more like a cat

A keyring that ended up looking like the cookie monster.

Star Wars hand puppets

Princess Leia is all..give me a hug!

" Gggggaaaaaaarrrrr. Arrrrhhhn."

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm"
That being said, he is '4-6 year old hand'-sized, as indeed they all are.

"Luke, you are getting scrabble and a pogo stick for christmas"
"Wow, dad, how did you know?"
"I have felt your presents"

The gang, just hanging out.

"Will someone get this walking carpet out of my way?"

Lord Vader, I should have known. Only you could be so bold.

Yoda defeats Vader! Obviously holding the camera meant I only had one hand to do the puppeteering, and my hand didn't really fit, but you get the idea. I hope you appreciate yoda's little bow at the end.

A round up of kindle and phone covers

I've offered to make a kindle/phone cover of the recipient's chosing for a charity raffle at work and it occurred to me that it might be useful to have a post with all the previous covers I have made to maybe give the lucky winner some ideas of what I can do. So, apologies for posting all old material but here goes.

I'll put the images after the break as there are a few of them.

Teddy Bear hat

I thought my despicable me hat was looking a little worn and decided I needed a brand shiny new 2013/2014 hat. And yes, I do have dozens of hats already but I wanted a day to day not *too* silly hat that I can turn up to work in and still retain the dignity (ahem) with which my peers regard me.

I think I failed in that.

It is really warm though!

Lady Rainicorn and a panda

I've hit the inevitable post-pumpkin slump, so been a bit quiet of late. But that mound of material totally obscuring my stairs to my bathroom isn't going to diminish itself, so I'd best roll my sleeves up soon.

In the meantime, here's a little lady rainicorm

And a panda. Because, why not.

Googly eyes

A couple of little googly eyed things I've been doing between pumpkin carving.

Mini dragon for Lucy, he has shiny wings, made from fantasy film. I don't think I like them as much as the usual ones.

Another one of these for Mike.

And while we are here, random conkers. The one on the left is shouting 'nooooo' with his mouth open. Giggle.

Sock sloth and conkers

I'm getting some silly little projects out of the way before pumpkin season commences.

I've never made a sock monkey before, never felt the need, but I did see someone make a sock sloth and that seemed like something I could get on board with. Asda couldn't furnish me with brown socks, so this a grey sloth. He's not perfect but he seems happy enough hanging there.

Little embroidery hoop to be given away this afternoon. The felted conker is 3D.

A gormless looking rabbit

A throwaway bit of stuff also made at the parents' house, this little bunny has tiny t-rex arms.
And giant bunny feet when he sits down.

Bunny heart cutie mark. Putting him against the wall and snapping his branded arse, I felt .. kind of dirty.

Trouble in dragon world! Mum and dad dragon are hanging out with their baby when a friend of the family turns up to say hi. Dad can't help but notice the remarkably similar colourings between his friend and his son. Suspicion is cast, like an abandoned handkerchief.

Look at that face, how could anyone mistrust him?
(This is a full sized green and red dragon requested by someone at work. Probably best that he is leaving the house, I think he has caused enough trouble as it is)

A whole family of dragons!

So, after finishing Wotsit I realised I had enjoyed myself far too much to stop. Felting is really addictive! So when I went to visit my parents last weekend I took some felt and my needles and pootled away at it in the evenings while we chatted. And now I have a little family.

Look at Wotsit and Doofer gazing fondly at their little baby dragon!

Baby dragon..

Don't you just love it when they are at that toddling stage?

And here is daddy in all his splendour. Note he has side nostrils, one of the easiest ways to tell if your dragon is a boy or girl.

I love his ears. The trim on his wings is velvet, and the ears are made of the same velvet on the outside, and the dark green cotton on the inside.

Oh male dragons also have more pronounced paw markings than their lady counterparts, but usually you will only find that out if you are being trampled by one of them.

I truly am a khaleesi now!

Just chilling out on a chinese jewellery box..

Alien autopsies in Cambridge??

Hi Guys

I know that my regular readers come here because they like little moments of whimsy in their lives, and I apologise to those of you who object to the gear change to seriousness here, but I saw something recently that really shocked me. And I think this needs to be shared and publicised so that this cruelty can stop.

Did you know that there is a secret base on the outskirts of Cambridge that could rival area 51 itself for secrecy and controversial activity?
Last night, drunkenly stumbling home from the pub I got lost and somehow ended up miles from my house and inside this compound. I have no idea how I managed it, but I guess it is not without precedent that alcohol can get you into these scrapes - as this guy will attest.

Anyway, what I saw in there totally sobered me up. Little orange creatures the like of which I have never seen before. I can only speculate on where they came from or how they ended up in this sorry place, all I know is that they have not met with human mercy. For it would appear - whether these are newly discovered species of earth or unfortunate aliens crash landed here by mistake - the military think they are worth learning more about.

Sheeple, wake up! - Alien autopsies are happening right here in Cambridge, right under your very noses.
AND I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE TO PROVE IT

This poor creature had had his stomach cut open and most of his innards removed, for what ominous purpose I can only speculate.

There were jars and jars of body parts floating in jars of foul viscous liquid. Many of their heads had been removed, although - non scientist as I am - I can't help but think that this happened before they died. Strange.

PLEASE, HELP ME PUBLICISE THIS SO THIS CRUELTY CAN END!

Wire armature soft sculpture dragon

I'm so proud of this little lady! I've been trying to do wire armature for a while now, believe it or not Tom the troll was my first attempt, and then a poorly executed stoned dragon before I finally realised something that I knew but I hadn't realised that I knew - namely that it works best needle felted (and that I should never again try and make faces from clay!)

So yeah,  she has wire in her body making her fully poseable. I wish I could do her justice with my poor camera abilities, but still think it looks pretty cool (if you will excuse a little big-headedness)

Please can I have a virgin to gnaw on? Pweease?

Playful dragon is playful

It may have started to become apparent to you but it would seem I subconsciously made her very dog like. In this pose she has just done something naughty and knows she is about to get told off.
She has little red cheeks that haven't shown up that well in the photos but you can see them here.

Bum up in the air she is having a big yawn and a stretch here

Check out those needle sculpted eyebrows!

Ready for bed, with curled up tail and close furled wings.
Look at the little sculpted toesies! So happy with them!

By coaxing her onto her back with the promise of belly tickles, I managed to get this shot of her stomach.
