Septaclops

 Remember the little hexablob I made? Dan didn't want me to sell him at the work Christmas craft fair of 2019 (in the before-times) so hexablob was liberated and now lives in our car. 
I decided that hexablob needs a girlfriend and Septaclops was born.

I'm particularly proud of her little teeth!

Okay, from his angle she looks rather lascivious and he looks terrified! But I like to think you can see how I have honed my craft over the years.

Ice skating bear

He doesn't have a large ice rink to skate in but that doesn't seem to bother him, he looks like he is having lots of fun

Little bear tail and... when will I learn to stop trying to knit things with cocktail sticks?!

I used liquid fimo for the ice which was interesting.

Pumpkin vamp-girl

 I made a little pigtailed vampire who has dressed up as a pumpkin for Halloween. 
(Even though we all know that vampires and other assorted monsters actually like to take the day off on Halloween. At least if Buffy is to be believed)

                                

Her hat is a pumpkin stalk. I kind of like to imagine she pulls her head down and curls up real small in her pumpkin. And then jumps out like this yelling 'surprise!' when you get too close.

Hand puppets!

I'm sure everyone, at some point during the pandemic, has had a "I have so much free time I need to learn to do x" period. For me it was puppets. I spent hours and hours watching puppet-making videos. I've made one proper puppet before and, deep down, I knew I wouldn't be making another. So I compromised and made two of the amazing Adam Kreutinger's snoofle puppets.

I'm not saying you have to have the sound on to watch this, but if you don't you'll miss me saying "your own grandmother would have your leg off for a 'teenth of self raising given 'alf the chance"

Maisie The Mushroom Girl

 Say hello to Maisie, a shy little mushroom girl I found in my garden

Look at that pink little nose of hers!

Do you like her nightgown and fluffy little slippers? It's a little too sunny where she currently is, so she's off to find a dark moist corner of the garden for her nap. See you later Maisie!

Little Cato from Final Space

 If you haven't seen Final Space you absolutely should, it's brilliant.

This is Little Cato, a young Ventraxian.

Kevin and Dug

 I found a snipe!

And more importantly, my snipe found a Dug! You can't see in this picture, but I used a baby toothbrush to texture Dug's tongue. It was weirdly satisfying!

If you lay Kevin on his back so that Dug is sitting up, it kind of looks like he is riding a Kevin-shaped swan pedal boat!

Also, I spend quite a lot of time watching clay sculpture videos despite the fact that I am rubbish with fimo. I had a little bit of white left from making Kevin's claws so I made a tiny dragon who just wants to play ball with you. He's... far from perfect but still kinda cute. 

Captain Ferret saves the day!

 There once was a very creative and imaginative little boy called George. George told his parents all about this superhero he knew called Captain Ferret. Captain Ferret had a full complement of ferrets that lived in his trousers and together they fought crime.

I feel that Captain Ferret and his 26 ferrety sidekicks need to be better known as they are way superior to the other superheroes, with the possible exception of Squirrel Girl. So I made a book about him. (Although there are only 15 ferrets in the book. The others were shy. Or I was protecting my sanity)

[7am, alarm goes off] bzzz bzzz

Big stretch and now it is time to get out of bed and start another busy day of ferreting and busting crime

Time to get dressed. You can't catch bag snatchers in your jim jams! 

Now where are all those sleepy ferrets hiding?

(By the way the oven is not on, oven-ferret is entirely safe) 

There they are!

So I made these ferrets out of shrinky dink and I ... forgot just how much shrinky dink shrinks! That's why it looks like these tiny ferrets are all feeding at such a massive bowl!

At this point Wilfred decided I wasn't paying him enough attention so we paused the ferret feeding frenzy for a bit.

Those ferrets worked up an appetite chasing the puppy away!

Oh no, someone is in trouble, time to call Captain Ferret!

And this is why all criminals and bad guys fear Captain Ferret and his 26 ferrety sidekicks. Those claws are *sharp*!

At this point in the book-making process I lost my erasable fabric pen to mark the text that I was going to embroider, which is why the writing at the top is... sub optimal.
