Whedon hoops and a teddy bear

Well hello there, I can't believe it has been over 2 weeks since my last post. Did you miss me?

Yesterday at work I suddenly had the biggest hankering to watch Firefly's Objects in Space. Jubal Early gets all the best lines in that episode. So I went home and made this (and watched it, of course). As usual, the colours don't come out very clearly so the writing isn't as legible as in real life.

So, in other news I have been making a teddy bear, although I was underwhelmed with the pattern. This little fella has his tie and collar and is all ready to go to work,

A pair of Firefly wedding cushions

My lovely friends Jack and Rachel got married and due to my useless body, I couldn't make it. So I wanted to give them a good present. The present list asked for something which:

a) was shiny

b) made them think of me (the writing didn't come out too clearly, but it says: Love, Poppy)

or c) was handmade

I may have thought about this too much, but when you hold the pillows face to face Wash and Zoe smooch as do Mal and Inara.

Here's the back of the boys' pillow. The back of the girls' I forgot to photo but it is the firefly logo, much the same as this one.

Please bear in mind that felt appears to be one of the hardest surfaces to photograph known to man.

Our love for him now aint hard to explain. As an aside, if I went out with Adam Baldwin, I would forever be sticking duct tape to his stomach, just so I could pull it off and see the owie face when it hurts. That face is the best. Our relationship probably wouldn't last long.

Firefly Cushion

Half of this cushion I am proud beyond words about. The other half sadly lets it down.

This weekend I have been totally immobile so I have been pootling away at this and a couple of other things. This is firstly, a present for someone who I am sure won't mind the imperfections and secondly, a trial run for something else.

I thought it would be best to put them together but I now see I was wrong. I've got Zoe sorted but she was too small to get the details right. Wash, well he just needs working on.

 I wanted to make a chibi Kaylee - because she's so darned chibiable, but I see now that it looks very out of place when only she is cartoon-esque on the cushion. Lesson learned.

Day Ten - Serenity cake. Plus, bonus!

Firstly, I made this this morning, and I was so tired of it by the time I finished, that I have only just got round to taking photos. This was a shame as the characters sort of sagged a bit. So they all look a bit fatter than they should. Dagnammit.

Secondly, sorry for the length -apparently blogger frowns upon cuts.

Kaylee, with her recruitment umbrella. She had a more slender neck this morning. Should have let the icing dry longer. 

 Wash, also from the first episode, with the clothes he was wearing in the curse you scene. I am sorry to say that the dinosaur he is holding is not kosher. Turns out I am no good at making 3mm triceratopsees. Shame the photo doesn't show the detail of the dinosaur. Wash looks a bit like he may have eaten too many pies.

This photo makes Mal look bald, but if you see it in real life he looks like he has a full head of har.
