So, I'm getting rather good at ferrets, having made a ferret cake and a ferret pinata in my day. At least they are a bit more shapely than guinea pigs.
This particular ferret did survive both having his bottom repeatedly squooshed by Simon, and the threat of getting popped down Tim's trousers.
Underside - pretty proud of that gusset, it runs all the way from his nose long his belly and right up to the tail (not to mention it is made of different colours so that is technically three gussets!)
I didn't get a successful picture of his face, so ... it was mostly ferret faced looking.

Felt Fob Friday - K9
This was supposed to be posted yesterday but it has taken me this long to work out how to post photos on blogger from this computer. It proved to be harder than expected.
I was planning to give K9 a neck, but that sort of thing usually makes the head wobbly and liable to fall off if tugged, so I didn't. But wish I had now.
View from the top
Also, as an apology for the post delay, a fluffy D20 dice, requested by Doug. I had more pictures to show the size etc but either I am looking in the wrong place or they have been sacrificied to the pixel god in the sky. I did point out to Doug that a plush D20 would be nothing other than a round ball but he didn't seem to mind. I don't think he is planning to play with it

A couple of keyrings for transport
I made a little bike for Peter as a housewarming. Fun fact, this was about the 5th attempt at making this on account of the fact that apparently I don't really know what a bike looks like. In the end I took a photo of a painted bike on the cycleway.
Andy asked me to make a camper van and after many aborted attempts I made something that was a bit like a misshapen cousin of a camper van. Apparently transport keyrings simply stump me. Anyway, I have since made this feltie (rather than a plush, in other words more 2d than 3d) which is ... better than before.

Birthday guinea pigs
To celebrate Whimsicle Frippery's birthday, here are some guinea pig slippers. Alas, neither of them are wearing birthday hats. To clear up some confusion that has been occuring these are not slippers for guinea pigs, nor are they made of pigs. Merely pig shaped.
Also, don't forget I'm getting all generous with keyrings until the end of the day!

With one foot on top of another - this is also Cobweb's favourite sleeping position with her head on someone else's back

Despicable Me and a fluffy wampa
A Despicable Me hat, for the father. In retrospect I think the flaps
should have been blue to mimic the dungarees but never mind.

Wampa keyring, just because!
I was going to add teeth/blood to his mouth, but I rather liked that it looked more like a mustache than an angry mouth.

Ferret pinata
So, yep, I make pinatas now. Or one, anyway. Suspect it would have been more fun to do in the summer when I can leave him outside to dry.
Note to self, buy pinata stick so that you aren't sawing up an old chair 10 minutes before the taxi arrives, in your party frock, using a bread knife as a saw.
Just hanging out.

Apron, piggies, poo and a hat
I am usually the secretest of all secret Santas, but I suspect the recipient may have had something of an inkling it was me (I told her). So this braai themed apron will surprise no one. Also, I can now pronounce Boerewors.
I have had sooo much fun making this felt, fleece and pompom bristol stool chart. Numbers 1 and 2 are stuffed really tight so they are really firm whereas 5 is all soft and fluffy edged. Number 3 is my favorite.
Happy wampa hat for a baby.

A birthday cake for the guinea pigs
These are on facebook as well, but hey, I think more websites should have a picture of a guinea pig in a hat on them.
In the category of "things I make" this fits in only the loosest sense of the word, but look - a genuine Poppy-crafted hat. As modelled by Blossom.
I probably could have secured them with elastic under the chin, but as this was a birthday party for them, I thought doing something for my amusement would be a bit unfair.
Here is their birthday cake. Blended broccoli and red pepper, alternated with a layer of blended cucumber and celery, wrapped in a carrot 'icing' and topped with coriander sprinkles. Cucumber candle with a sweet potato flame.
Happy piggies.

Ferret cake
A birthday cake for Lucy, with stout cake, baileys icing and green sprinkles to look like grass for the ferrets to play in. The one on the right kind of looks a bit snakelike now that I see it in a picture.

Minecraft Kindle and an axe
Happy birthday Matt!
Here's a creeper Kindle cover, but I'm not very happy with the writing - not all that straight.
And as a silly extra I thought I'd make him a minecraft pickaxe. Except I worked out the dimensions and then promptly changed units, so instead of 2cm squares the pixels were 2inches. Resulting in a huge pickaxe. I'm going to try and sell it to him as a cuddle cushion.
I have to take this to Ely in an hour. I loved the idea of wrapping it in wrapping paper against all the contours, but seems like a bit too much effort. Either way, I think I am going to get some odd looks on the train unless I can find a bag big enough to shove it in.

The Corpus Christi chronophage
Lest you didn't think this morning's Dalek planter was enough, here's more!
This is the reason I have been making silly things with clay the past weeks. James has been on at me to make a coke can chronophage for months now and while I suspect the little locust chap might not be something that translates well into the medium of cans, I figured I could give it a shot with clay. Rather pleased actually.
I think I needed to make the body a bit longer, it looks like he is arching his back, rather than stretching ever forward to the next second. Meh, just don't give me a million pounds then.
The clock isn't very round, but it is more golden than it looks here, more like the second picture.
Mouth open, gulping at time

Elvis cake
The old favourite, cocoa and stout cake for Raj the corner shop chap. I originally made a 2D Elvis silhouette but dropped it last night at about 10.30. So, I quickly whipped up a batch of marshmallow fondant and made an imperfect li'l Elvis at about 1am this morning.
His face is a bit effeminate although he is sporting a hefty pair of sideburns.

A pair of Firefly wedding cushions
My lovely friends Jack and Rachel got married and due to my useless body, I couldn't make it. So I wanted to give them a good present. The present list asked for something which:
a) was shiny
b) made them think of me (the writing didn't come out too clearly, but it says: Love, Poppy)
or c) was handmade
I may have thought about this too much, but when you hold the pillows face to face Wash and Zoe smooch as do Mal and Inara.
Here's the back of the boys' pillow. The back of the girls' I forgot to photo but it is the firefly logo, much the same as this one.
Want to see all those little panels close up? I'll just bet you do.
Please bear in mind that felt appears to be one of the hardest surfaces to photograph known to man.
When I die, I will know that I have done something worthwhile to change the world. I got the Keep Calm and Carry Vera poster put up at the Dev!
Leaf on the wind. One of the saddest phrases known to mankind.
Our love for him now aint hard to explain. As an aside, if I went out with Adam Baldwin, I would forever be sticking duct tape to his stomach, just so I could pull it off and see the owie face when it hurts. That face is the best. Our relationship probably wouldn't last long.
Oooh, grampa...strawberries
River is kicking some arse.
Mine is an evil laugh
The woman lays a wreath upon her intended which represents his sovereignty. And he drinks of her wine. And then there's a dance, with a joining of hands. The marriage ceremony of the Triumph settlers. You, sir, are a newlywed
Before you say anything, not a direct quote. And again, dark felt don't photo so good.
Amazing we kept him this long.
Burst into song everyone.(sparkly black felt)
Again, not another direct quote. So bite me.
Quick! Look away, before you get all crazy and corpsifying.
OK. That's all just the back of one. Want to see the fronts? Did I apologise for the lengthy post by the way?
The Girls
Kaylee didn't go quite right.
Inara is looking sad. I think she just had a fight with Mal.
Slightly crazy eyes.
River about to kick some alliance arse.
"Eta Kooram Nah Smech!"
*falls asleep*
The Boys
Her legs, and right where her legs... meet her back. Tha— actually, that whole area. That, and... and above it.
So basically everything but her feet?
His eyes look baggier in this picture than they did in real life (real life felt, rather than real life Mal. Although that too)
Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer.
Mal and Jayne I could felt all day long, they are fun to do.
That's it! Thanks for looking and apologies for doing two firefly cushion projects in such a short time.
