Wire armature soft sculpture dragon

I'm so proud of this little lady! I've been trying to do wire armature for a while now, believe it or not Tom the troll was my first attempt, and then a poorly executed stoned dragon before I finally realised something that I knew but I hadn't realised that I knew - namely that it works best needle felted (and that I should never again try and make faces from clay!)

So yeah,  she has wire in her body making her fully poseable. I wish I could do her justice with my poor camera abilities, but still think it looks pretty cool (if you will excuse a little big-headedness)

Please can I have a virgin to gnaw on? Pweease?

Playful dragon is playful

It may have started to become apparent to you but it would seem I subconsciously made her very dog like. In this pose she has just done something naughty and knows she is about to get told off.
She has little red cheeks that haven't shown up that well in the photos but you can see them here.

Bum up in the air she is having a big yawn and a stretch here

Check out those needle sculpted eyebrows!

Ready for bed, with curled up tail and close furled wings.
Look at the little sculpted toesies! So happy with them!

By coaxing her onto her back with the promise of belly tickles, I managed to get this shot of her stomach.

Hostile 17 embroidery hoop

Little Spike humour for you. I tried to find a youtube clip of the kitten poker, but failed. Oh well, you either know what I am talking about or you don't.

(The phrase isn't mine, there's a lot of tshirts and things with it written on but I am not sure who came up with it originally.)

It is currently 9.30, by the way, and I am trying to decide to watch the lastest ever Angel episode or something cheery before going to bed. Sigh.

Also, I mentioned I deleted my pictures of the cheshire cat cake I made? Well someone did get some pictures, but after it had been sitting out in the sun and poked and generally got a lot messier. So, these aren't great, but nevermind.

This is why I had to sort out my mini marshmallows into pink and white that time.

Felt Fob Friday - K9

This was supposed to be posted yesterday but it has taken me this long to work out how to post photos on blogger from this computer. It proved to be harder than expected.

I was planning to give K9 a neck, but that sort of thing usually makes the head wobbly and liable to fall off if tugged, so I didn't. But wish I had now.

View from the top

Also, as an apology for the post delay, a fluffy D20 dice, requested by Doug. I had more pictures to show the size etc but either I am looking in the wrong place or they have been sacrificied to the pixel god in the sky. I did point out to Doug that a plush D20 would be nothing other than a round ball but he didn't seem to mind. I don't think he is planning to play with it

Fluffy baby cthulhu

For such a reputedly squamous entity, you would not believe just how soft the material is. But don't get too close for HE WILL EAT YOUR SOUL.

No pattern for this, I just sort of winged it (ha ha) as I went along. I wanted him to be more "cuddly" and less "Eldritch abomination", so only little mouth tentacles, small wings and teddy bear style foot pads.

Whedon hoops and a teddy bear

Well hello there, I can't believe it has been over 2 weeks since my last post. Did you miss me?

Yesterday at work I suddenly had the biggest hankering to watch Firefly's Objects in Space. Jubal Early gets all the best lines in that episode. So I went home and made this (and watched it, of course). As usual, the colours don't come out very clearly so the writing isn't as legible as in real life.

The little man loved fire.

So, in other news I have been making a teddy bear, although I was underwhelmed with the pattern. This little fella has his tie and collar and is all ready to go to work,

From above

Bestest buddies.

And *finally*, for those who didn't already see it - Spike. I do love Spike.

"I do remember what I said. The promise. To protect her. If I'd done that ... even if I didn't make it, you wouldn't've had to jump. I want you to know I *did* save you. Not when it counted, of course. But after that. Every night after that. I'd see it all again, do something different. Faster or more clever, you know? Dozens of times, lots of different ways ...Every night I save you."
Sob.

James Baxter! The horse!

From the moment the James Baxter Adventure Time episode aired until this very moment will be a period of time that shall henceforth be known as the period I didn't have a James Baxter embroidery hoop.

Ahh, that crazy horse, always cheering people up.

Oh my glob you guys. I was given 50 metal keyrings, so I guess I should get to it..

R2D2 herb planter

I really can't think of anything witty or interesting to say about this, so here, brought to you on my new red and silver samsung laptop, is an R2D2 herb planter.

Not the thyme you are looking for...

Portal tissues, minion and hamster keyrings and some whimsical frippery of the most fripperous order

A Portal companion cube tissue box cover.
For no tissue, toilet paper or general absorbancy-related product in my house shall be on show

I will hold my hands up to being a bit slap dash when it comes to sewing, edges meet up 'close enough' and the concerpt of seam allowance is alien to me. But to make sure I got this totally square and neat I measured everything and even used large numbers of pins. Little bit proud.

A cute little hamster. Just because

This little fella didn't work out right. I need to make the yellow part larger. I don't have much yellow fleece left (but plenty for this) so I was scrimping - talk about your false economies!

Sometimes, I just like to make fig leaves. Actually, this was a request, and there was sort-of logic behind it. I've spent a lot of time trying to work out which angle the fig should be at after someone said it should be stalk pointing upwards (no giggling at the back) but there appears to be no strong leaning towards that in art.

Dang I should dust my mirror.

On the under side.

Dr Horrible embroidery hoop

Quick question for you, have you seen Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog? No? Go do so now, it is 42 minutes of pure awesome, I promise you won't regret it. It is free on youtube, here. Go on, I'll wait.

Every super villain who ever aspired to the Evil League of Evil knows this one important piece of information: the wonderflonium must never be bounced. But here's a helpful reminder in case you forget.

The suitcase of wonderflonium that Dr Horrible stole to power his freeze ray.
And, as an aside, if I could draw I would totally draw Jon Snow from Game of Thrones doing battle with Neil Patrick Harris in a park. Made me chuckle anyway.

Cthulhu Toilet Roll Cosy

My weeping angel apparently needed more tentacles. Challenge accepted.

I now have the world's scariest toilet.

Minecraft Kindle and an axe

Happy birthday Matt!

Here's a creeper Kindle cover, but I'm not very happy with the writing - not all that straight.

And as a silly extra  I thought I'd make him a minecraft pickaxe. Except I worked out the dimensions and then promptly changed units, so instead of 2cm squares the pixels were 2inches. Resulting in a huge pickaxe. I'm going to try and sell it to him as a cuddle cushion.

I have to take this to Ely in an hour. I loved the idea of wrapping it in wrapping paper against all the contours, but seems like a bit too much effort. Either way, I think I am going to get some odd looks on the train unless I can find a bag big enough to shove it in.

A pair of Firefly wedding cushions

My lovely friends Jack and Rachel got married and due to my useless body, I couldn't make it. So I wanted to give them a good present. The present list asked for something which:

a) was shiny
b) made them think of me (the writing didn't come out too clearly, but it says: Love, Poppy)

or c) was handmade

I may have thought about this too much, but when you hold the pillows face to face Wash and Zoe smooch as do Mal and Inara.

Here's the back of the boys' pillow. The back of the girls' I forgot to photo but it is the firefly logo, much the same as this one.

Want to see all those little panels close up? I'll just bet you do.

Please bear in mind that felt appears to be one of the hardest surfaces to photograph known to man.

When I die, I will know that I have done something worthwhile to change the world. I got the Keep Calm and Carry Vera poster put up at the Dev!

Leaf on the wind. One of the saddest phrases known to mankind.

Our love for him now aint hard to explain. As an aside, if I went out with Adam Baldwin, I would forever be sticking duct tape to his stomach, just so I could pull it off and see the owie face when it hurts. That face is the best. Our relationship probably wouldn't last long.

Oooh, grampa...strawberries

River is kicking some arse.

Mine is an evil laugh

The woman lays a wreath upon her intended which represents his sovereignty. And he drinks of her wine. And then there's a dance, with a joining of hands. The marriage ceremony of the Triumph settlers. You, sir, are a newlywed

Before you say anything, not a direct quote. And again, dark felt don't photo so good.

Amazing we kept him this long.
Burst into song everyone.(sparkly black felt)

Again, not another direct quote. So bite me.

Quick! Look away, before you get all crazy and corpsifying.

OK. That's all just the back of one. Want to see the fronts? Did I apologise for the lengthy post by the way?

The Girls

Kaylee didn't go quite right.

Inara is looking sad. I think she just had a fight with Mal.

 Slightly crazy eyes.

River about to kick some alliance arse.
"Eta Kooram Nah Smech!"
*falls asleep*

 The Boys

Her legs, and right where her legs... meet her back. Tha— actually, that whole area. That, and... and above it.
So basically everything but her feet?

His eyes look baggier in this picture than they did in real life (real life felt, rather than real life Mal. Although that too)

Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have another beer.
Mal and Jayne I could felt all day long, they are fun to do.

That's it! Thanks for looking and apologies for doing two firefly cushion projects in such a short time.
